Charlene's Success

Alabama Dentist - Smile Design with Porcelain Crowns

Charlene never liked how “gummy” her smile was and how short her front teeth were. After years of wear they looked worse than ever to her. She also suffered from considerable acid reflux, which had eroded all of the inner enamel away from teeth # 6 through 11.

Dr. Beasley made use of computer imaging to demonstrate to Charlene what her new smile could look like after a “gum lift” procedure combined with “opening her bite” to accommodate for the erosion and wear damage to her teeth.

Next, Charlene was referred to Huntsville periodontist Dr. Paul Weeks for soft and hard tissue crown lengthening for teeth #4 through #13. Approximately 10 weeks later the tissue had completely healed and the diagnostic wax-up was performed. The earlier imaging photo along with several smile design records and other information was given to the laboratory to aid in creating the diagnostic wax-up at the new vertical dimension.

Dr. Beasley and Charlene evaluated temporary crowns made from the diagnostic wax-up for proper function, comfort, aesthetics, and phonetics.

All together, teeth # 3 through 14 were restored. Teeth # 3 and 14 were restored with porcelain fused to metal crowns and teeth # 4 through 13 were Emax porcelain crowns. Mr. Steve Barksdale of Barksdale Dental Lab created the crowns. Smile design and cosmetic dentistry performed by Dr. R. Brad Beasley.
