A beautiful smile is a powerful fashion statement. However, if you have considered orthodontic treatment to straighten your teeth, you mayinvisalign have felt put off by having to wear metal braces throughout your treatment. Luckily, you have other, less obvious options to achieve the smile you have always wanted. Find out about Invisalign and what it can do for your smile with Dr. Brad Beasley at Beasley Family and Implant Dentistry in Athens, AL, and serving Huntsville, AL.

I want Invisalign to straighten my smile. Now what?
First, a consultation with your dentist ensures that Invisalign is the best treatment for you and your teeth. During this time, you can address any questions or concerns you have and your dentist will explain the Invisalign process. After confirming that Invisalign is right for you, your dentist takes a state-of-the-art 3D scan of your mouth to use as a basis for the design of Invisalign’s aligner trays. Over the course of several weeks, Invisalign’s dental laboratory designs and creates your aligner trays based on the 3D model. After their completion, the lab sends the trays back to your dentist. Then, after a quick rundown of inserting and removing your trays, you will begin treatment by wearing the first tray in the series for about two weeks before changing to the next tray.

How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign uses the same principals as traditional braces by applying gentle but constant pressure to move the teeth. The trays, which often use small tooth-colored bumps called attachment, place pressure onto certain areas of the teeth to move them into their corrected positions. As you wear the trays, the teeth straighten into the results you want to see. Each tray, worn for about two weeks, is slightly different from the last.

If you think you can benefit from Invisalign, you should consult with your dentist to be sure this is the right treatment for you. Would you like straighter teeth but aren't sure if Invisalign is a good choice for you? Dr. R. Brad Beasley of Beasley Family & Implant invisalignDentistry in Athens, AL and serving Huntsville, AL, discusses the orthodontic issues Invisalign treats and shares some information on this popular alternative to braces.

Invisalign is just as effective as traditional braces

Invisalign treats all of the same problems that metal, ceramic or lingual braces do. Although no wires are required, the clear brace system works as well as traditional braces if you have mild to moderate orthodontic problems. If your issues are severe, Dr. Beasley may recommend metal braces.
Invisalign is a good choice if you're concerned about:

  • Crowding: Invisalign gradually shifts your teeth to alleviate crowding by utilizing a series of clear, removable aligners. Eat set of aligners in the series is designed to accomplish a specific straightening goal and is worn for two weeks.
  • Too Much Space: Invisalign slowly closes gaps between your teeth that can affect your appearance and your bite.
  • Overbites and Underbites: Both of these common bite issues respond well to Invisalign treatment
  • Open Bites and Crossbites: Failing to treat open or crossbites can wear down the enamel on your teeth, increase stress on your jaw and facial muscles and make it difficult to chew. At the end of your Invisalign treatment, your teeth will fit together perfectly.

Invisalign is an easy care option

There are a lot of rules when you wear traditional braces. You'll need to buy special flossing tools and follow a strict after-meal flossing regimen to ensure that food doesn't stick to your wires. You'll also have to avoid any food that is hard or sticky and wear mouthguards made just for people who wear braces when you play sports.

Most people who choose Invisalign in the Huntsville area do so because they want to improve their smiles but don't want to call attention to the fact that they're undergoing orthodontic treatment. The brace system offers a few other important benefits. Without wires and brackets, there's nothing to trap food particles in your teeth. Every time you eat, you'll take out your aligners, put them in their case, then rinse them and reinsert them at the end of the meal. Oral hygiene is equally easy, since you'll also remove the aligners when you brush and floss.

Would you like to find out if Invisalign is a good option for you? Call Huntsville, AL, dentist, Dr. Beasley of Beasley Family & Implant Dentistry in Athens, AL and serving Huntsville, AL, to schedule an appointment.

Are you embarrassed by your crooked teeth, but don’t want to wear the traditional metal bracket and wire braces? Then Invisalign clear aligners from Dr. Brad Beasley of Beasley Family and Implant Dentistry in Athens, AL could be what you're looking for. Made of BPA-free acrylic, Invisalign aligners fit tightly over teeth, straightening them comfortably and almost invisibly.Invisalign

The American Dental Association states that straight teeth are not only good looking, but they are healthy too. They are easier to clean and less susceptible to decay and gum disease. So who wouldn't want to give Invisalign clear aligners a try? But if you’re still unsure and have some questions, here are a few common answers:

  1. How long is Invisalign treatment? Typically, Invisalign aligners straighten teeth in an average of 12 months-- more quickly than traditional braces.

  2. Can the patient take out his or her aligners? Yes, patients should remove their aligners to eat, brush, and floss. Individuals wear the appliances for 20 to 22 hours per day to keep treatment on track.

  3. Are the aligners comfortable? Patients report the aligners are very comfortable. A special Invisalign lab fabricates the appliances from clear acrylic, and each set fits snugly over top and bottom teeth, exerting gradual physical forces to change tooth positions. At the start of treatment, teeth may be a bit sore, but this quickly resolves. Additionally, because aligners are smooth, patients have no sore spots from brackets or broken wires.

  4. Can teens be Invisalign patients? Yes, teens wear Invisalign clear braces in Athens, AL and across the country. Even when adult teeth have not fully developed, the aligners can be equipped with eruption tabs to leave space for incoming teeth. Plus, to help teens, parents, and dentists know if patients wear the appliances consistently, Invisalign offers colored compliance tabs. These features indicate the wear pattern.

  5. How many sets of aligner will I wear? The appliances come in pairs--usually 18 to 30 altogether depending on the plan. Patients visit Dr. Beasley every 4 to 6 weeks for a quick check and to receive the next sets of aligners. Different from metal braces, Invisalign requires no extended time in the dental chair and no complicated adjustments.

  6. Do all dentists offer Invisalign? While Invisalign treatment has become more and more popular, not all dentists qualify to work with this innovative system. However, Dr. Beasley is fully trained in the treatment and was a 2014 Preferred Invisalign Provider in Huntsville and Athens.
