Advantages of Invisalign Treatment in Huntsville, AL, and Athens, AL

Dr. Beasley and the staff at Beasley Dentistry provide Invisalign in Huntsville, AL, and Athens, AL. This treatment is effective in properly aligning teeth and is an option that we suggest to many of our patients.

When you have misaligned or missing, crooked, or broken teeth, you may feel self-conscious about your smile. Fortunately, orthodontic treatments can help to correct this issue. If you have noticed that you aren't smiling as much as you used to, it's time to take a look at Invisalign.

When we use Invisalign as a treatment, it will improve your smile, but it won't address jaw issues. Because every tray is custom-made and is used to realign your teeth, you will soon have the smile that you've always wanted.

Jaw issues can lead to more significant problems when they are not treated properly. There is no reason to wait to begin treatment, as the sooner the problem is fixed, the better. If you are suffering from jaw issues, Invisalign may not be the right treatment for you. If it's time to address your teeth and jaw issues, we suggest scheduling an appointment to review your treatment options.

Because everyone's needs are different, formulating an effective treatment plan often requires a comprehensive examination. If you are interested in orthodontics but also have jaw issues that need treatment, it's a good idea to review all of the options that are available to you.

You want straighter teeth, but you don't like the idea of wearing metal braces. If so, you're not alone. Many teens and adults are searching for an alternative to traditional braces. If you live in Huntsville, consider getting Invisalign. Dr. R. Beasley at Beasley Family and Implant Dentistry can help you achieve straighter teeth that help you smile with more confidence. Keep reading to learn more about Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a set of clear plastic teeth aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. They are a good alternative to braces because they are transparent and removable. This means they provide you with the benefit of straighter teeth without the hassle of traditional braces.

Traditional braces are made with metal, wire and rubber bands. As soon as you open your mouth, people notice that you are wearing braces. They're impossible to miss. In contrast, Invisalign aligners are clear, making them less noticeable.

When you wear traditional braces, you have to be careful with the foods you eat. If not, you can damage your braces. When you wear Invisalign, you remove the aligners whenever you want to eat your favorite foods. It doesn't matter if you want to nosh on some popcorn or eat something gooey. After you finish eating, you simply place the Invisalign back inside your mouth.

Candidates for Invisalign

If you live in Huntsville and are interested in Invisalign, speak with a dentist to see if clear aligners are right for you. Invisalign is usually a good option if you have:

  • a mild overbite
  • a mile underbite
  • slightly crooked teeth
  • overcrowded teeth
  • gaps between your teeth
  • teeth that are positioned incorrectly when you close your mouth

How Invisalign Works

When your orthodontist decides that you are a good candidate for Invisalign, he or she will create custom-made clear trays for your teeth. The orthodontist will show you the proper way to place them inside your mouth and how to remove them as well. He or she will provide information on how to care for your Invisalign and how long you need to wear them throughout the day.

Every two weeks, you will receive a new set of custom-made trays. These various sets of trays work to gradually move your teeth into a straighter position. Most adults only need to wear Invisalign for about 12 months, depending on their teeth's condition. Teens may need to wear them for a longer period of time.

Invisalign offers unique benefits to teens and adults living in Huntsville, AL.

Has our Huntsville, AL, dentist, Dr. Brad Beasley recently talked to you or your teen about braces? Most of us aren’t born with perfectly straight teeth. Some develop gaps between their front teeth while others may come in slightly crooked. Of course, it’s never too late to get a straighter smile and with nearly invisible options like Invisalign, we are getting more of our teen and adult patients on board.

When you think about braces you probably think about those traditional metal braces; however, Invisalign and traditional braces are quite different. While they both can offer amazing results, here are the differences:

Invisalign is Nearly Invisible

Instead of applying metal brackets and wires to your teeth our Huntsville dentist will provide you with clear Invisalign aligners. These aligners are uniquely shaped to your teeth, so they provide a comfortable, perfect fit. Each aligner is made from a thin transparent thermoplastic, which is flexible and hugs your teeth while you wear them, making them nearly invisible. Just make sure to keep your aligners clean to prevent stains from forming!

You Can Eat What You Want

If you would rather not have to avoid certain foods or to follow the traditional braces diet, then Invisalign will allow you to eat just as you had been prior to braces. Since aligners are removable, you will definitely want to take them out prior to eating. While you don’t have to remove aligners if you are drinking water, you will want to remove them if you are drinking anything else such as coffee, tea, or juice, which could stain them.

Remove Invisalign When Necessary

The goal is to wear your aligners as much as possible and to only remove them when absolutely necessary; however, being able to remove them when you really need to can provide our teen and adult patients with peace of mind. While Invisalign won’t be visible in pictures, you may choose to pop them out before taking your senior photos or before your wedding pictures. Invisalign fits into your lifestyle, not the other way around.

With an office in Athens, AL, Beasley Family & Implant Dentistry is proud to provide comprehensive family dentistry to the Huntsville, AL, area. If you or your teen would like to learn more about Invisalign and how it could improve your smile, call us at (888) 860-5114.

Invisalign Adult Clear BracesWhen you already feel self-conscious about your smile, the last thing you may want to do is draw more attention to your teeth by wearing metal braces. Invisalign, offered by your dentist, Dr. Brad Beasley of Beasley Family & Implant Dentistry in Athens, AL, and serving Huntsville, AL, offers a much more discreet straightening option.

How Invisalign Works

Traditional braces use metal wires and brackets to improve the alignment of your teeth. Although metal and ceramic braces are effective, they're not the most attractive straightening option.

Invisalign offers a more subtle way to straighten crooked teeth and correct bite problems. The system uses a series of clear, removable aligner trays custom-made to fit your teeth. Trays exert constant pressure on your teeth, gently improving their alignment.

Benefits of Invisalign treatment

Invisalign offers several important benefits, including:

  • Improved Self-Esteem: Your teeth play an important role in your self-esteem. When they're crooked or protrude too much, you may feel ill at ease in social situations. Straightening your teeth offers an excellent way to boost your self-esteem. In an Invisalign/Harris Poll survey, 92 percent of adults who straightened their teeth reported that straight teeth were an important factor in confidence.
  • Almost No Change to Your Appearance: Invisalign's transparent aligner trays are designed to make your orthodontic treatment practically unnoticeable.
  • No Food Limitations: Traditional brace wearers must avoid hard or sticky foods that can break brace wires or become stuck in them. You won't face any limitations when you choose Invisalign. Before you eat, you'll remove your aligners, then rinse them and put them back in your mouth after you finish eating.
  • Convenience: Your aligners can be removed occasionally if you play sports or are attending a special event. The aligners are designed to be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day.
  • Shorter Treatment Time for Adults: Many adults only need to wear Invisalign aligners for about one year.
  • Easy Oral Hygiene Routine: Brushing and flossing around brace wires can add significant time to your oral hygiene routine if you wear metal and ceramic braces. No changes are needed with Invisalign, as you'll remove the trays before you brush and floss.

Are you ready to improve your smile with Invisalign? Call your dentist, Dr. Brad Beasley of Beasley Family & Implant Dentistry in Athens, AL, and serving Huntsville, AL, at (888) 860-5114 to schedule an appointment.

A beautiful smile is a powerful fashion statement. However, if you have considered orthodontic treatment to straighten your teeth, you mayinvisalign have felt put off by having to wear metal braces throughout your treatment. Luckily, you have other, less obvious options to achieve the smile you have always wanted. Find out about Invisalign and what it can do for your smile with Dr. Brad Beasley at Beasley Family and Implant Dentistry in Athens, AL, and serving Huntsville, AL.

I want Invisalign to straighten my smile. Now what?
First, a consultation with your dentist ensures that Invisalign is the best treatment for you and your teeth. During this time, you can address any questions or concerns you have and your dentist will explain the Invisalign process. After confirming that Invisalign is right for you, your dentist takes a state-of-the-art 3D scan of your mouth to use as a basis for the design of Invisalign’s aligner trays. Over the course of several weeks, Invisalign’s dental laboratory designs and creates your aligner trays based on the 3D model. After their completion, the lab sends the trays back to your dentist. Then, after a quick rundown of inserting and removing your trays, you will begin treatment by wearing the first tray in the series for about two weeks before changing to the next tray.

How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign uses the same principals as traditional braces by applying gentle but constant pressure to move the teeth. The trays, which often use small tooth-colored bumps called attachment, place pressure onto certain areas of the teeth to move them into their corrected positions. As you wear the trays, the teeth straighten into the results you want to see. Each tray, worn for about two weeks, is slightly different from the last.
