About a week ago I had my teeth whitened along with having a composite filling replaced. Now I’m feeling a bit of discomfort in the corner of my tooth when pressing down on it. Do you think I should go back to see my dentist?

Dear Jack,
It’s difficult to determine why your tooth is sensitive without taking a look at it. I don’t think you need to worry too much about it though. Occasionally patients experience slight sensitivity with white fillings. It’s possible that this irritation you are feeling is from the bonding process. Another possibility is that the enamel of the tooth was irritated while polishing the filling enamel of the tooth. If your tooth is just slightly sensitive to the touch, then this shouldn’t cause you to be concerned.
